Step Eleven

Sought through prayer and meditation to improve my conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for me and for the power of the Holy Spirit to carry that out.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6

Here you make a life long commitment to seek one day a time to know the Lord’s will and to have the power to carry it out. Your greatest desire should be to improve your abilities to receive guidance from the Holy Spirit and to conduct your life accordingly.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace  of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Before you began to recover you thought hope, joy, peace, and fulfillment would come from and earthly source, whether this source was alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, dishonest spending, unhealthy eating or codependency. You have begun to understand and appreciate Jesus Christ and His role in your life and to treasure the light of Christ.

Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. Colossians 1:10

The people who climb mountains will always put the one who has the most experience in front of them to help guide them so the will not fall. This is why it is so important to put Jesus Christ in front of you. Depend on Jesus and His Holy Spirit, and not on yourself, so that you will not fall.
