Introduction to Walking With God

Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:

  1. People are missing out on all the things that God has promised for them to receive

  2. Not having the understanding of the importance of having a personal relationship with God

  3. God says my people, meaning he wants a relationship with you

  4. From the very beginning God wanted a personal relationship with man. In the beginning in Genesis, it reads that God created everything, the earth and the things of the earth, it reads that he spoke those things into existence and that it was very good

  5. But what he didn't speak into existence was man. He personally created man with His own hands. Having a personal touch and breathing personal life into man

  6. We were created to be personal with God

  7. So what happen

Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

  1. When Adam and Eve first disobeyed God that is what ended the personal relationship

  2. Because of sin, God saw the wickedness in man

Genesis 6:5

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

  1. It's that sin that keeps us from having the personal relationship with God

  2. God wants a relationship with you, so he decided to do something about it

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10: 9-10, 13

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

  1. This is how you get to have a personal relationship with God, by accepting and receiving Jesus Christ into your life.

Genesis 17:1-2

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

  1. What does perfect mean?

    A. In Hebrew it means blameless, sincerity, entire, whole; full

    B. God wants for you to be complete in all the fullness that he has to offer

    C. He wants for you to come into a covenant with Him.

    D. Today that covenant comes by us accepting Jesus Christ

  2. Walking with God by putting Him first in your life and having a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ

  3. I am starting a teaching series called Walking With God

  4. In this series there are going to be three major topics that we will learn

    A. Friendship with God

    B. The Incomparable Jesus

    C. Follow ME

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  1. So let's walk with God today by having fellowship with Him through Jesus Christ

  2. If you don't have Jesus in your heart just ask him in right now

Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins, I ask you to come into my heart; forgive me and erase my past mistakes with the blood you shed for me on the cross. I make you my Lord and Savior. Oh God, You're now more than my God; You're my Heavenly Father and I'm going to serve you all the day of my life. Jesus is my Lord. Amen
